STEP 1 - Come 'n' Try

Sherbrooke Archery Club has coaching facilities from beginners to advanced. From 8 to 80 you can have a go with a bow, starting with a basic recurve or compound bow with advice and demonstrations on the equipment available.

Come and try Archery

The best way to start is to try our introductory classes called "Come'n'Try".  These classes are the chance to try the sport in a safe atmosphere with an emphasis on fun. We supply all the equipment. You can attend up to 12 of these sessions and you are under no obligation to continue after the first one.

Session Times

Sessions are on Sunday mornings starting at 10:00am and finishing at 11.30am.

This will take you to the link to register for the session and download the Come 'n' Try booklet.

Please print a copy of your booking confirmation and bring it with you or simply keep a copy on your phone/device and present it on arrival.

Bookings are essential as sessions are limited to 30 people. To guarantee your spot please arrive around 15 minutes early to enable us to sign you in and sort you out with the correct equipment.

Cost

Adults                       $20.00 per lesson

STEP 2 - Archery Instruction Program

Sessions run over 4 weeks every Sunday morning beginning at 10:00 and last for about 90 minutes.

We suggest that you use the online bookings section of the website to guarantee your spot. as we cannot cater successfully for numbers in excess of 30 and priority will be given to those who have booked.

Week 1 - 10 Metres

Introduction/Overview

  • Range Safety, Field Captain
  • The Shooting Line
  • Target Safety
  • Clothing/Footwear
  • Training Equipment
  • The 10 Basic Steps

Week 2 - 10 Metres

Range Qualification

  • Adjusting Your Sight, Point of Aim, String Walking
  • Rhythm
  • Scoring
  • Stringing a Recurve Bow
  • Removing Arrows from the Target

Week 3 - 20 Metres

Range Qualification

  • Different Types of Equipment
  • Different Types of Archery
  • Group Discussion

Week 4 Field Course

Range Qualification

  • Field Course Tour  10.00am to 11.30am
  • Membership Options  11.30am to 12.00pm
  • BBQ Lunch  12.00pm to 12.30pm
  • Presidents Shield  1.00pm to 4.00pm

Cost
