If you're a member of a club, are 12 to 15 years of age and compete at these interclubs there is also the chance to make Wellington representative teams.

Grade 12/13 Interprovincials

Eleven athletes in each of the following grades are selected to represent Wellington at the Interprovincials, so 44 athletes in total. In 2017 the Grade 12/13 Interprovincials will be held in Masterton over the Easter weekend.

The team travels to Masterton on Good Friday and returns on Easter Monday:
Grade 12 Girls - Grade 12 Boys - Grade 13 Girls - Grade 13 Boys

Wellington has won the title for the past three out of the past five seasons, narrowly finishing second the other times. Athletes selected compete in four events (must be a mix of track and field events so 3 track and 1 field or vice versa or 2 track and 2 field). It is a team-based event with points awarded for the times you run or the distances you throw or jump. The team with the most points wins, so every person in the team contributes towards the overall result. Relays are included at the end of the event and there is a prizeigiving on the Saturday night. It is a fantastic event for these athletes as they're competing against the top 12 and 13 year olds in the country in a team environment.

This year Athletics Wellington is again offering training sessions for those who want to make the Wellington interprovincial team. If you are in the 12, 13, 14, 15 grades for the 2016/17 season you can sign up to be part of the Interprovincial training squad. Coaching sessions will take place immediately following our junior interclub competitions. We have coaches who work with athletes in all disciplines at these sessions. Grade 14/15/16/17 Interprovincials

Athletes are selected to represent Wellington at the Interprovincials for the 14, 15, 16 and 17 age grades. In 2017 the competition is being held in Inglewood, Taranaki on Saturday 28 January. The team travels on Friday, competes Saturday and returns Sunday.

Like the Grade 12/13 interprovincials, this competition is a team-based event, however athletes compete in 3 events (2 track and 1 field or 1 field and 2 track). It is a great experience for this age group, competing against other top athletes in their age groups from the North Island provinces.
