When: Club nights are held Monday night, 5.30pm to 7pm for athletes aged 7 to 14.

We run races for 3 year olds to 6 year olds, from 5.15pm- 6pm. We will also be incoorporating the Get, Set, Go  programme into their session as the season progresses.

Where: Paraparaumu Domain. 

From: Early October until Late March each year.

We run four different track and field events for our 7 year old plus athletes on a club night incorporating training as they go.   Athletes compete in their own age groups.  The programme changes each week providing a mix of running and throwing events.  The results are recorded from week four onwards for all registered athletes and collected as part of the club competition.  

We have personal best records, so a child can work to improve on their times and throws; this has proven to be a great motivational tool for the children. 

Our club tuck shop will be open each Monday night, with food, and drinks available to purchase (Eftpos is available).

At the end of the season we hold a social prize giving. Cups are awarded for excellence in individual events and sportsmanship.

Registration Ages/Age Flash

Athletes compete in their groups based on their age on the 31st of December.  If your child is 7 years old at the start of the season, but turn 8 on the 2nd of January, they remain in the age group they were registered as, or as shown on their age flash.

Your child will be issued with an age flash once they are registered.  This will show their age group, and their name.  Age flashes must be worn on club nights and at interclubs.

Parent helpers/support

To run our club successfully we need lots of parent help with running our Monday nights, training nights and behind the scenes.  We need parents to help co-ordinate age groups and run events.  Please remember, without parents volunteering to help, we cannot run our programme.  If you are able to help in any way talk to us on club night or email us.

Spikes

Spiked running shoes may be worn by grade 10 year olds and upwards.  The permissible length on the mondo track in Newtown is 6mm.  Moulded spike shoes are permitted.
