Dragons fall in D Grade grand final

The Ds came up just short of claiming the premiership pennant, falling to the Mitchell Majors 11-6 in the Grand Final at Essendon.

Coming up against the league’s top team the Dragons were always going to need a top-notch performance in order to emerge victorious.

The Dragons got off to a great start, jumping out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning. However, the lead did not last long.

The Majors responded with six runs of their own in the bottom of the first and added another three in the fourth the establish a 9-3 lead.

Doncaster mustered a comeback in the fifth, scoring three runs to trim the deficit. But after the Majors responded with another two runs, the lead proved to be too much for the Dragons to overcome.
