GALA DAY Wrap Up
Illawong Marlins hosted a spectacular conclusion to the CSJBA’s 2015 Winter Development program on Sunday 2 August which saw six teams play outstanding baseball. Two U12 and two U14’s teams played one another for bragging rights and the extent of these player’s development during the off-season was evident in these games. Unfortunately, the schedule did not allow for an exhibition match of our U10 Winter Development Players, an inaugural program conducted by Illawong, however plans are already in place for next year!
On the third diamond, the CSJBA National Little League team played a CSJBA Junior League team that went 7 innings before a magnificent walk-off home run saw the Junior League team victorious. A brief presentation followed with the National Little League Team being presented their Australian Championship Tracksuits, generously provided by the Cronulla Sutherland (Grade) Baseball Club, in preparation for their departure to the Little League World Series on 14 August.
The CSJBA Executive extends its gratitude to Glen Humphry and his Executive Team at Illawong for hosting the day; the fields, diamonds and facilities were brilliant. To the many Coaches and Assistant Coaches who gave selflessly over the past twelve or so weeks; a sincere thank you. Our Association owes its continued success to you. Thanks also go out to our Junior League players and parents who have continued to scrimmage with the Little League team over the past four months; your contribution has made the these kids even better players and they are well prepared to represent Australia at the World Series. Finally, thanks to Baseball NSW for ensuring Syd ‘The Sock’ could attend to meet and great the kids.
As our Winter Development Program concludes, a reminder to those players and their parents the registration for the 2015/16 Summer Competition is about to close so please make contact with your local club if you haven’t already.
