U/17 Red win the MWBL 2023 Premiership!
The U17 Red team went through the season undefeated after coming out on top in a tense and tight grand final, securing the premiership with a 4-2 victory over Werribee on Saturday morning!
Luke Hutton set the tone and was dominant on the mound pitching four innings for just two runs with eight strikeouts!
In the batter’s box the young Dragons played great situation baseball with three of the four runs coming from productive outs and aggressive base running against their crafty lefty pitcher. We moved the runners around and brought them home on hard hit ground balls and sac flies.
Defensively, the Dragons were very solid in shutting down the Giants running game and keeping errors to a minimum.
In relief Ethan Johnston slammed the door shut to pick up the save and bring the first U17 winter pennant in many years!
