Masters shine at Pan Pacs

A team of UTAS members recently competed at the Pan Pacific Masters Games on the Gold Coast, bringing home a swag of medal with them following three days of super competition.

Cathy McKeown led the charge, winning W45 Discus and Shot Put events.  Cathy picked up silver in the Weight Throw and Throws Pentathlon before launching clear at 2.10m to win a third silver in the Pole Vault.

Michael Mullarvey had a busy but successful few days, winning the M45 Hammer, Javelin & Throws Pentathlon, silver in the Weight Throw and bronze Shot Put and Discus.  And if that wasn’t enough to keep him busy, Mullarvey lined up in the Triple Jump where he picked up a super silver with a jump of 8.35m.

North West member Sally Haynes collected gold in the 400m & 800m events and bronze in the 200m.  Sally had coach Joel Deegan on edge during her 800m over a bet they had which would have Joel hiking his way to the top of Mt Wellington bare-bottomed, but the windy conditions saved Joel (and us!), with Sally winning in 2:39.58.
