Policy for Allocation of Association Events

The following Policy has been adopted by the Match Committee of Zone 14 Bowling Association in relation to allocation of Association events. To be considered for the hosting rights of these events Clubs should meet the following criteria and conditions.  

THE CLUB(S) – DESIREABLE TO HAVE:

  1. Satisfactory catering facilities to cater for the players as well as the spectators.
  2. Adequate parking facilities for players and spectators.
  3. Sufficient office space equipped with the necessary office equipment (computer, telephone, photocopier etc) to administer the event.
  4. An available meeting room should a meeting be required during the event.
  5. A secure area for the players to leave their bowls overnight if necessary.
  6. Sufficient acceptable accommodation within a 10 km radius to the Club to accommodate all the players, officials and spectators involved with the event.
  7. A working relationship with another near Club for joint hosting applications.

THE GREENS:

  1. Have sufficient green space available to conduct the event.
  2. To be an acceptable playing surface running at an acceptable speed.
  3. Have an area available for the players each end of the green which has seating as well as shade.
  4. Sufficient scoreboards including a master board that has provision to display the number of ends played for the event e.g. 84 ends in the Inter Zone Championships.

ADMINISTRATION:

  1. The Clubs must have, or arrange to have, the personnel with the ability to manage and administer the event in an acceptable, efficient and professional manner.
  2. Have an official(s) responsible for the results to be collated and displayed in an area set aside for such purpose, as well as forwarding them to the relevant Zone body.

INTER ZONE EVENTS:

  1. To be considered as a host venue for an Inter Zone event, in addition to meeting above criteria clubs must have greens with suitable lighting.

The Zone Match Committee will consider the following when allocating events. They will:

  • endeavour to spread the events around,
  • encourage the “smaller clubs” to host or co-host with other Clubs, to assist them with their ongoing viability, and
  • ensure the Clubs chosen to host or co-host events meet the above criteria.
