Directions to the Event Vic Roads 59 J9 Melways 909 F/G 11 (2011 edition)

From  the south: Take Western Hwy to Bacchus Marsh, exit towards Gisborne.

Travel for 10.4km to Carrolls Lane LHS (O sign), turn left and continue for 2km to intersection of Firth and Fingerpost Roads.

Park as directed.


From Melbourne or North: Take Calder Hwy and exit to Gisborne. In Gisborne take Bacchus Marsh – Gisborne Rd ( also signposted Robertson Street). Travel for 11.2 km through Bullengarook to  Carrolls Lane on RHS (O Sign). Turn right and continue for 2km to intersection of Firth and Fingerpost Roads. Park as directed. Cars and smaller buses into carpark area,

On your left ( portable toilets here). Walk 100m to Assembly/ Finish area.

Individual State Final

The competition rules of the Orienteering Australia will apply, with the exception of those governing eligibility to compete in the event and the age class.


Eligible competitors will be those nominated in their correct age class by their schools.  Entry forms available on line: www.vicorienteering.asn.au  - mid March 2010.

All previously competing schools will be sent information and forms by email.

The age classes shall be:

Boys 13 years and under                                    Girls 13 years and under

Boys 14 years and under                                    Girls 14 years and under

Boys 15 years and under                                    Girls 15 years and under

Boys 16 years and under                                    Girls 16 years and under

Boys Open (20 years and under)             Girls Open (20 years and under)


There will be A Class and B Class for each event.

‘A’ class: for students experienced bush orienteering or bush walking. 

‘B’ class: for students experienced in schoolground, street and parkland orienteering.


Ages as at 31 December 2011





Students should be able to read an orienteering and/or topographic map, and have some experience with using an orienteering compass.


Results will be posted on the Orienteering Victoria web site.



Orienteering Victoria will enter a team in the Australian Schools Orienteering Championships [ASOC 2011].  A team of 16 students will be selected in 4 age categories: Boys 15 years and under, Girls 15 years and under, Boys 16 years and over, Girls 16 years and over.

This Championship will be the first selection race. 

The final selection race was held on Sunday 7th August 2011

The team will compete in the Australian Schools Orienteering Championship ( ASOC) 2011 in Wagga, NSW  on October 4th and 5th 2011.

This championship is part of the 9 Day Oceania Orienteering Carnival, so the students have the opportunity to compete in National events as well as ASOC.
