Selection - Metro
Metro Trials 5 & 12 May 2013
NOMINATED PLAYERS
Thank you for nominating for the 2013 GJ Gardiner Homes Junior State Championships!
After a successful inaugural campaign in 2012 we look forward to a challenging and rewarding competition this year.
It is our intention to provide all selected players with the opportunity to develop a greater intuitive sense for the game and build bonds within the Zone.
We hope that all those who attend the trials come away with a greater understanding of their own strengths and the desire to improve upon other aspects of their game.
If you haven't yet nominated, please click here.

This weekend we only have U15 & U17 girls at Altona from 7:30am and the U17 boys only trial and U15 boys 2nd trial also from 7:30am.
Trial Process
- All players are expected to attend all trials that are run by the Zone.
- All players are expected to arrive at the ground 30min PRIOR to the advertised start time. This will allow for a pre trial briefing, provision of numbers and time to be fully kitted before the trial begins.
- All players are expected to bring one BLACK and one WHITE shirt on the day. Selectors will arbitrarily separate players.
- NO state, zone or any other hockey (indoor or outdoor) representative uniforms (schools etc. included) may be worn during the trials. Prohibited items include (but are not limited to) playing tops, training tops, shorts, socks, blazers, polo’s and playing equipment emblazoned with any logos or text indicating previous representative selection.
- Only those players who have been granted exemption by the Zone Coordinator will be permitted to be absent from an agreed trial.
- Injured players are expected to attend all trials.
- A minimum of 14 and a maximum of 16 players will be selected for any team. This includes the selection of up to 2 Goal Keepers.
- There will be no train on players selected for any team in 2011. Instead players who in the past may have been selected as a train- on will be offered a place in Hockey Victoria’s Zone Development Program. Hockey Victoria will run this program in conjunction with the Zone team training schedule at a different venue. Further details will be forthcoming after the trials.
- If more than 30 players trial in the first week for any given team, selectors are under instruction to cut players for the second trial to a maximum of 30.
- The holding of a second trial is at the discretion of the Zone Committee, with the advice of the Head Selectors and Zone Coaches. All teams with at least 20 nominations will have two trials.
- Trials will last for 1.5 hours and will be run by the Head Selector with the assistance of club selectors and Zone Coaches. Coaches will be permitted to offer their opinions, but will not have any final say in the selection process.
