Final

Starting Time:

10.00am

Match Format:

Batters will be given OUT if they do not wear a helmet with a face grid.

The Laws of Cricket as they apply to the calling of wides, no balls and overs shall apply except that a delivery which, in the opinion of the umpire, either passes or would have passed higher than the shoulder of the batter in their normal stance shall be called a no-ball.

If a delivery from a 'fast' bowler is a full tossed pitch above the batter's waist, a no ball will be called.

For a wide or a no ball, an 'extra' is scored as well as any score made from the delivery.

All matches are played as one-day matches, under the following conditions:

(a)  the team batting first will bat for two hours or 35 overs (whichever comes first) or until dismissed.

(b) the teams batting second shall be entitled to receive as many legitimate balls as that of the side batting first;

(c)  should the team batting first be dismissed before their allotted time, the team batting second will receive the same number of balls, plus one over for each three minutes not utilised by the team batting first;

(d)  should rain interrupt the innings of the side batting first, then the time lost shall be halved and their pre-determined batting time extended by that amount;

 (e) should rain interrupt the innings of the side batting second and prevent them from receiving the same number of balls that they delivered, then the team with the greater strike rate shall be deemed the winner (i.e. runs per ball).  However, in this situation, a minimum of 5 overs must be bowled, otherwise the game will be declared a draw;

Length of Matches:

35 overs or 2 hours (whichever comes first)

Arrival:                    9:30 am

First Session:        10.00 am  -     12.00 pm

Lunch:                    12.00 pm  -     12.30 pm

 Second Session:   12:30 pm -      2.30 pm

Unplayable conditions:

In the event of a washout or extreme heat on the nominated date, the match is to be rescheduled two school days after the nominated date

Umpires:

Each school is required to provide a competent umpire.

It is strongly recommended that for Inter Division Cricket Matches an independent umpire be employed.  For Preliminary Finals the cost is to be split between the two team involved.  The Region will cover the cost of an umpire for Region Finals.

Dress:

All players must be correctly attired:

Girls - cricket whites or P.E. uniform

Boys  - white long or short pants, white shirt or T-shirt.

                                             School jumpers may be worn if cricket jumpers aren't available.  Jeans, school pants/dresses are not allowed.

                                             It is strongly recommended that players wear full helmets when batting or when fielding in close.

Equipment To Bring:

All own equipment.

Teams must provide helmets.

One new match ball:

Snr, Inter & Yr 8 Boys   -  a new leather (150 - 165 g) ball.

Yr 7 Boys & All Girls     -  a leather or plastic (140 - 150 g) ball.

Each team must provide a competent scorer and scorebook

Each school must provide its own 1st aid kit; including ice packs

Winning Team:

The team making the greater number of runs, regardless of wickets lost, shall be deemed the winner.

In the event of runs scored being equal, the team with the higher Scoring Rate (runs scored divided by legal balls bowled) will be deemed the winner.

Note:  If a team was dismissed, then the Scoring Rate will be calculated on the maximum number of balls that the team could have faced.  Normally this would be 210 balls (i.e. 35 overs)

If the teams' Scoring Rates are equal the team with the higher Wicket Average (runs scored divided by wickets lost) will be deemed the winner.

If still equal then an extra 6 overs per side is played.

Fielding Restriction:

No player will be permitted to field within a radius of 9 metres of the batsman, except in the 1/4 circle extending from point to the wicketkeeper.

Bowling Restriction:

No bowler is permitted to bowl more than seven overs in a match.

Score Sheet:

The score sheets are to be kept correctly and both coaches are to sign the opposing team's score sheet to signify that the scores are correct.
