Match Format:

Badminton will be conducted under the rules of the International Badminton Federation unless otherwise stated.

Winners of matches will be decided on games won, and if these are equal, on game points won.

Matches are to consist of 6 Games (4 singles and 2 doubles). All games to be played as best of 3 sets to 21 with advantage played at 20-all. (ie. the side which gains a 2 point lead first shall win that game). If scores are locked at 20-all then the side scoring the 21st point shall be declared the winner.

Hit-ups will be restricted to 2 minutes only. Play must be continuous. an ill or injured player must be able to continue within 5 minutes or the game will be forfeited.

Players must wear the appropriate attire. Competing students must be wearing school sports uniforms. Caps, jeans, board shorts and tank tops are not acceptable. Black marking shoes will not be permitted on the courts. Any player not appropriately attired, as listed, will not be permitted to participate.

Competing students in a match must be listed on the score sheet prior to the match starting.

The Convenor has the power to apply the following penalty for teams that arrive after the starting time: lose by the maximum score to zero in all the games that would have been in progress

Match Order:

4th seeded singles, 3rd seeds, 2nd seeds, 1st seeds, 2nd doubles pair, 1st doubles pair

Teams are to consist of 4-6 players, ranked in order of ability. Ranking order must be maintained throughout the day for singles games. If a replacement is required, that player must play at number 4, and the rest of the players must be adjusted up, in order as necessary.

Changing of seedings during competition will result in either forfeiture of the relevant matches or forfeiture of the round or disqualification from the competition, at the Convener’s discretion.

Any pairings may be used for the Doubles to comprise a First Pair and a Second Pair. Note that players are restricted to one singles game and one doubles game in each match.

 

Own racquets and scorebook.

6 good quality "Red Rated" nylon shuttlecocks

(Orange rated feather shuttlecocks are used for State Finals)

Competing teams must have a completed team sheet with players in seeded order to the Convenor on the day of competition prior to the start of the first round of competition.

 

Competition Winner:

Region winner will compete at Conference Final.
