Introduction to Officials Courses

Officials / Parent helpers are very important to the effective functioning of Centre weekly competition.  There are a large number of different roles and positions that need to be filled at each competition, some require technical knowledge and experiences, whilst others are basic and only require a limited understanding of athletics.

To assist Centre’s with the education of parents the Victorian Officials Committee is introducing a new initiative.  Each Centre will have a dedicated Chief of Officials who will train up parents throughout the course of the season.  Chief of Officials are required to attend an Introduction to Officiating Course (ITOC) which is a non-accredited practical Officials course designed for Little Athletics, giving individuals the ability and confidence to Officiate at Centre Level. Chief of Officials will receive a Victorian Officials polo top and need to register as a Victorian Official.  All Officials education courses are free.

Victorian Officials will receive information on Education courses being conducted throughout the season and other seminars / workshops as they become available.

The seminars include all events in Track & Field, combining rules with the practical application of them, along with the important aspects of safety, venue set up, recording results and handling equipment.
