Cambridge Cambourne 10k – 14th April 2024

ENTRIES OPEN

The Cambridge Cambourne 10k appeals to runners of all levels: from new runners to the more experienced. The distance is long enough to be challenging, but short enough to be accessible to anyone with the determination to put in a bit of training.
Its sister event, the Cambridge Cambourne Fun Run, is ideal for younger runners or those not ready for the longer distance.

Lovely rural course
The course passes through wooded areas and alongside lakes. It is almost entirely off road and traffic-free, on proper footpaths – better for your legs than tarmac. The finish must be one of the most inspiring in the country.

An opportunity for sightseeing too
Competitors from outside the local area can take this opportunity to have a first-class run in great scenery in the morning and take time out to visit the beautiful, historic City of Cambridge in the afternoon.

A memorable event
– Quality medal for everyone
– Individual chip timing
– Race results posted on event website

Community involvement
Each year, the race proves to be an exciting event for the whole community and a pleasure for all concerned, both runners and helpers. Many local community groups and businesses support the event as marshals, as well as taking part. We hope you’ll make this one of the highlights in your calendar and come back year after year.

In 2024 we are pleased to acknowledge the financial support of  the South Cambridgeshire Investment Partnership (SCIP), a 50:50 joint venture between South Cambridgeshire District Council and The Hill Group, one of the UK’s largest private housebuilders.

Charities

The Cambridge Cambourne 10k is run entirely by volunteers on a non-profit basis. When the Cambridge Cambourne 10k was initially setup it was decided that any surplus from the race should be donated to a local charity.  We try to choose a relatively small charity for whom our donation can make a significant difference and, in return, the charity helps out on race day – along with a dedicated team of helpers from Cambridge & Coleridge Athletic Club, members of the local Cadet Force and local school PTAs – by providing marshals.

Over the years we have made donations to Arthur Rank MaggiesEACHAnna’s HopeTeenage Cancer TrustRed Balloon Learner CentresCam SightCambridge city FoodbankJimmy’s Cambridge and Papworth Trust.

This partnership arrangement continues to work well and one of the real pleasures of organising the race is meeting and working alongside the staff and volunteers of our nominated charities.  These are special people and seeing them at work, hearing their stories and learning more about what they do is a humbling experience.

So, as we look forward to welcoming all the runners for this year’s race, we remember not only the hundreds of smiling faces of the spectators and the competitors as they cross the finishing line but also the warmth, humility and friendship which our charity workers bring and the huge respect and admiration we have for them.
