Maddison Wesche has just become New Zealand’s latest shot put sensation, winning the Under 20 World title. This morning in the Finnish city of Tampere in dramatic circumstances, the 19 year old Auckland athlete came from behind with a personal best throw on her final attempt to win the world title. Read more about Maddison’s win later on.
Just three weeks away is a big weekend for the sport in Wellington. We’ll have our Club Connect annual club conference, the Athletics NZ AGM and the New Zealand Cross Country Championships. It’s a great excuse for a weekend away!
In this issue of Athletics in Action we talk to US based distance runner Lilli Burdon after an NCAA medal-winning performance in the States.  We also chat to the amazing Tayla Clement about her recent witch to athletics  and we catch up with discus thrower  Connor Bell  for our “Five minutes with …” segment.
The winter season still has some big cross country events culminating in the  NZ Champs in Wellington - we hope you are taking part or following the action!

New Rankings feature

We’re always looking for ways to improve our Rankings System to make it more useful for members and fans. The latest feature allows users to filter Annual Lists to show Para Athlete rankings. The feature also allows users to filter by Centre to view the  rankings for any Centre for senior, Under 20 and Under 18 performances. We think you'll agree this is an excellent move.
