International Notes
Eliza McCartney starred this week with a New Zealand pole vault record of 4.92m in Germany, smashing her own national record by 0.07m. It was also an Oceania and Commonwealth record. The majic 5.00m gets closer and closer! At the same meeting World U20 Champs-bound Olivia McTaggart cleared a PB equalling 4.40m.
Olivia Burdon came up with another excellent performance, this time over 1500m, running 4:13.00 in the US.
Portia Bing ran 57.50 over 400m hurdles in France. The time was a PB and moves her up to fourth on the NZ all-time list.
Maddison Wesche hit a big 17.00m in the shot put in Germany moving up to fifth on the all-time NZ rankings. Maddison is on her way to Finland for the World U20 Champs.
Also heading to Finland, are 1500m runners Isaiah Priddey, Sam Tanner and Nick Moulai. They ran 3:47.94, 3:48.13 and 3:51.40 respectively in Belgium.
Nick Willis, who is down to open his Diamond League season this weekend in Paris, ran 1:50.47 in England.

Don’t forget to get your entry in for the 2018 NZ Cross Country Championships. Hosts Athletics Wellington are promising a great competition, with plenty of fun and a whole lot of mud!

Athletics NZ’s annual club conference – Club Connect 2018 in Wellington on Saturday 4 August is only five weeks away now! There will be lots of club people in town that weekend, so register now.
The Club Connect programme is designed specifically to assist and support clubs to improve what they do and provide great services to their members.
