Congratulations Tom Walsh – World Indoor Shot Put Chamion!

The Jennian Homes New Zealand Track and Field Championships in Hamilton this weekend will be the highlight of the season for hundreds of athletes. Good luck if you are competing, coaching, officiating or supporting – all key roles and exciting experiences.

There’s lots of other action happening right now, so whatever you are doing athletically for the rest of the summer, have a great time.

In this issue of Athletics in Action we focus on three young athletes who will all be competing this weekend at the Jennian Homes NZ Track & Field Champs. We chat with sprinter  Olivia Eaton on her recent excellent form, we talk to NZ Under 20 800m runner  James Preston and we catch up with Hawkes Bay’s  Georgia Hulls for our “Five minutes with  …” segment and lots more.

Commonwealth Games

The latest from the Commonwealth Games team has seen some good and bad news. We’ve had discus thrower Siositina Hakeai added to the team (and reaching her conditional performance last night) and hammer thrower Julia Ratcliffe reaching the conditional requirements of her selection. On the other side of the ledger, we’ve had the withdrawl of 1500m star Nick Willis forced out of the team by injury.
