There's much more in this issue of Athletics in Action, so keep reading.

Check your supplements!

The herbal supplement Kratom has recently been linked to the death of a 27 year-old in the United States. The legal supplement, made from the leaf of a Southeast Asian plant, is known for its energizing and pain-relieving properties.

According to Drug Free Sport NZ (DFSNZ), it was discovered in doping samples from 4 New Zealand athletes in 2015.

This is yet another reason to use the DFSNZ Supplement Check tool before purchasing or taking any kind of supplement. Not researching supplements isn’t just a risk to your career as an athlete, but it can be a danger to your health as well.
Don’t risk losing it all for a quick fix” – Eliza McCartney.
