The IAAF World Championships in London showcased Athletics at it's very best - drama, excitement, upsets, huge crowds, worldwide interest, farewells and pride for Kiwi fans. The ten days of action were simply outstanding and what about Tom Walsh – World Champion!

We’ve got more action coming up too. The World University Games started yesterday in Taipei featuring a team of 11 NZL athletes. This event is on a par with the Commonwealth Games for quality athletics and will see many athletes backing up from the World Championships, including three of the NZL team.

We're also not far from the NZ Road Championships in Christchurch on 2 September to crown the best 10km road runners in the country.

In this issue of Athletics in Action we talk to NZ Cross Country men’s champion Craig Lautenslager, we chat with Ruby Muir after her Athletics NZ Cross Country title and we catch up with Commonwealth Youth shot put silver medallist  Nick Palmer for our “Five minutes with …”  segment.

There's much more in this issue of Athletics in Action, so keep reading.
