A 42-year-old solo-mum from Cambridge won the Rotorua Marathon event ticket giveaway through an Inspiredhealth.co.nz competition. Hers was an emotional and raw plea for the entry to inspire her to get fit again. Karleen read the Rotorua Marathon blog about James Crosswell running the marathon event for the 40th time and was inspired to get fit again.

Limited Edition Retro 1977 Rotorua Marathon cotton tee
To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the 1977 Rotorua Marathon, we have released this replica tee from the 1977 event.
This was the first year the Rotorua Marathon was run clockwise around Lake Rotorua and had its start at the picturesque Government Gardens.
Available in men’s and women’s sizes, this cotton tee features the Fletcher Marathon event logo of the day. These tee’s are limited edition and orders close 21 April.
They will be made to order and will be for pick-up at the event. No sales at the event - you'll have to order them online by 21 April.
This will be a real collector’s item!

Adopt a Runner
Adopt a Runner is a project that builds confidence in kids, which offers them a real life insight into what it means to participate in sport. 
Who is Involved?
The programme is a joint initiative between Rotorua Lakes Council, Sport BOP and Athletics NZ, that has the support of Rotorua Schools, many of which take part in the Rotorua mini marathon. 
Why should you be adopted?
If you want to be part of a positive programme that inspires and motivates Rotorua’s up and coming youngsters to take up walking and running, this is for you.
