We’re between seasons but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a lot of activity in the sport of athletics right now.
A big group of Kiwi athletes finished off their summer season by travelling to Sydney last week for the Australian Track and Field Championships, bringing home a large haul of medals.

NZ Mountain Running Championships were again held on a spectacular course in Queenstown with Jack Beaumont and  Sabrina Grogan taking the major titles.

It’s the start of the Cross Country season, so many runners are going to be right in their element, getting into the mud and having a great time.

In this issue of Athletics in Action we talk to long jumper Kelsey Berryman, we have a look at the Livestreaming of the Auckland Track Challenge and the New Zealand Track & Field Champs and we catch up with teenage hurdler Oliver Miller for our “Five minutes with …” segment.

There's much more news in this issue of Athletics in Action, so keep reading.

Rankings

We had a huge 2,009 performances added to our rankings database in March. That’s a monthly record since we started our rankings in 2008. It’s kept our statistician Steve Hollings very busy and he’s now up to date. Consequently,  there have been many changes in ranking positions with over 76,600 performances in our system from 3,750 athletes.
