If you are counting, it's now less than 20 weeks until the 2017 Rotorua Marathon on Saturday 6 May 2017. If that date is not stuck in your diary with a big red circle around it, put it there now!

Parents of a teenager lifesaver who drowned nearly a year ago plan to conquer 12 half-marathons in his memory – and Rotorua Marathon is at the top of their list. 17-year-old lifeguard Hamish Rieger was tragically swept off the rocks near the blowhole at Moturiki (Leisure) Island in the Bay of Plenty on January 23. |Jessica’s feat – bed-ridden to marathon running
Running in a race after six months of being bed-bound with chronic fatigue syndrome seems like an impossible feat, but Jessica Paterson is not your average teenager.
Last year Jessica ran the Rotorua Marathon in support of the Mental Health Foundation. Having the extra motivation of running for a charity she believes in got her out of bed and over the finishing line. Read more
