In the last issue of Athletics in Action for 2016 we’d like to wish all our members a very enjoyable holiday season.
It’s been a fantastic year of athletics with unprecedented success at the Rio Olympics backed up by medals at the World Indoor Championships, a wonderful medal haul at the Rio Paralympics and fantastic performances right down the line to schools and junior events.
None of this success would happen without the hundreds of volunteers in the sport, putting in thousands of hours to make everything run smoothly and ensuring that our many members are supported by coaches, officials and others administering the sport. We owe these people a big debt of gratitude, so make sure you thank and support these people who are there for our sport.
In this issue we talk to yet another rising shot put star making big waves, we chat with Athletics NZ High Performance Manager Scott Goodman looking back on a very successful year and we look back to one of New Zealand's top high jumpers who is now putting something back into the sport. Our “Five Minutes with” segment focuses on  400m hurdler Cameron French.
There’s much more news in this issue, so keep reading – and have a relaxing Christmas and New Year break!
Athletics in Action will take a break over the holidays and will be back on 12 January 2017.

 * Athletics in Action is a fortnightly e-newsletter, usually sent out on Thursdays full of great articles, profiles, interviews with the stars, latest updates and upcoming events in the world of athletics.
