Archers Update September

Welcome to our newest club - Delta Archers, Delta have been granted provisional affiliation in line with our constitution. Please make the them feel welcome. Delta don't have a venue at this time but are looking in Sydney Metro. Separate to the potential club in Earlwood, ANSW is on the move.

This month I had the opportunity to attend a NSW Governance in Sport forum. This was attended by over 30 major sports from NSW and address by the NSW Minister for Sport, the Hon Stuart Ayres, Director of NSW Sport-Rec, the Office of Sport and Triathlon NSW. The key message was sports are expected to have a contemporary governance and management structures. Professional organisations run for the benifit of the sport. Further, State Sporting Organisations (ANSW) are more successful then they work closely with the National Sporting Organisations (AA), the better the relationship the greater the success. It was great to hear what all the other sports are doing in this area and hear the success stories.

ANSW Championship Events

Clout Championships - 1st November

Clout is a great first competition for anyone who has not competed before. Perfect for Recurve and Longbow.

October - Club Events

Fred Herbut Clout 18th October

ANSW Field Championships

Another successful event, though a little wet. Congratulations to everyone who competed in difficult conditions. A special mention to the ANSW Judges who stood in the rain and with the organising committee made the tough but right call to abandon the second have of day 2 for everyone's safety. Great work team.

2016 Event Calendar

In speaking to 3 other states (RGB's) they all have clubs host their events (target included). "the strategy has supported the development of clubs and increased the states event management knowledge" "our clubs can now host National events as they have the experience" Its great to know ANSW strategy is inline with what has been successful in other states.

Small clubs are encouraged to host ANSW events to help them grow, both with earning some $$ but also experience. Events can be hosted almost anywhere.

Clubs are invited to provide and Expression of Interest (EOI) in hosting future ANSW events. Clubs are also asked at this time to add their events to the 2016 ANSW calendar.

Form HERE and return by 1st November 2015

Policy Review Complete - ANSW Policies HERE

ANSW now have a comprehensive set of policies and forms to rival any Olympic sport. This now ensures ANSW is compliant with its obligations to NSW Sport & Rec, AA and you the membership. This completes one of the major pieces of work from the 3 year strategic plan. Please take the time to make your self aware of these policies and pass any feedback on via your club. Thank you to all those who contributed many hours of research, editing and feedback.

Club in Profile

Shirewood Forest - Meni - founded 2013

Shirewood hosted this years Indoor Championships which were a massive success. Growing quickly Shirewood now have 50 members. In a fantastic example of good governance Shirewood allow all members to be on the ANSW Club Executive email list. This means emails that are sent from ANSW to the Club Executives are also received by those members who are interested. A fantastic level of transparency & accountability.
