2014 MSA National Championships


Masters Swimming Queensland decided to take the 2014 National Championships out of the traditional capital city circuit and into the regional Rockhampton Southside Memorial Pool. The Meet was very well run and the relaxed atmosphere and great weather translated into an enjoyable National Championships for everyone.

2014 MSA National Swim Series


The 2014 MSA National Swim Series is well underway, with the completion of the April National Championships and the May MSWA Long Course Championships, the first two events on the calendar.

2013 MSA Coach of the Year


Congratulations to Peter Johnston, from Merrylands (MSNSW), who was named the 2013 MSA Coach of the Year at the MSA National Championships Dinner.

2013 Vorgee Endurance 1000 Winners - Noosa

Trophies are special, but sometimes they take on an even greater significance. This is the case for Noosa Masters, the winners of the 2013 trophy for Champion Club in the Vorgee Endurance 1000 competition.

Swimming Australia prepares for Glasgow

John Bertrand, President of Swimming Australia is pleased to report that team spirit is alive and well on pool deck as our athletes and coaches finalise their preparation for the major meets of the year – commencing with the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in late July/August.

In early May, members from MSNT and MSNSW completed the Lake Argyle Swim in Western Australia.

Swimming with US Masters

Powerpointer Michael Daly did not let his overseas travels stop him from training whilst in America. During his time in New York, Michael swam with the Red Tide Masters.

Coaching Corner

MSA Masters Coaching Course

A Master Coaching Course was conducted by MSA in early May, and saw eighteen MSA coaches who were looking for some extension to their repertoire, gather in Melbourne. Congratulations to voluntary National Coaching Committee Chairman, Bruce Allender for organising such a fantastic course.

15th FINA World Masters Championships - Montreal

Good luck to all MSA members travelling to Montreal this July for the 15th FINA World Masters Championships.

While individual registrations have closed, a reminder that relay registrations close on Tuesday July 15. CLICK HERE to register your relay team.

New South Wales

Members from MSNSW travelled to Yamba on the first weekend of Winter to compete in the colloquially named "Swimming State of Origin".

Northern Territory

Congratulations to Moira Wigley who received her Vorgee Seven Million Metres award in May 2014.

Following a big lead up to the successful 2014 National Championships, the MSQ Administrator, Helga Ward jetsetted overseas for a well earned holiday. We look forward to hearing about her travels when she returns to the office on Monday June 16.

Please note that the MSQ website is currently having technical difficulties and is likely to be down until some stage next week.

South Australia

Congratulations to Jenny Bradley from Atlantis, who was awarded with MSSA Life Membership in May. Jenny has been an active member of Masters Swimming for 25 years and may be remembered by some as the announcer at the 2004 National Championships in Adelaide.

MSV's Swim Meet Committee recently announced the details to numerous events for the second half of 2014, including three interclub meets.
