Recently minted Athletics NZ Trail Running champion Andrew Thompson of Wellington Scottish is next up to answer our Five Minutes With Questions, and reveals his weakness for top end speed and a good custard square!

 

 

 

 

Start of a New Era with Opening of Nga Puna Wai 

Athletics Canterbury christened the new 400-metre track with a meet at Nga Puna Wai in Christchurch last Saturday. It is the first part of the $53.65 million first stage of Nga Puna Wai sports hub to open.

Youth Olympian Connor Bell on his Road to Gold

Youth Olympic Games discus champion Connor Bell is one of New Zealand’s most exciting teenage sporting talents. On his return following his success in Buenos Aires, Steve Landells found out more about his road to gold and future plans.

 
     

 

 

Wellington Scottish: Road to Relay Glory

Wellington Scottish rattled off a fourth successive senior men’s victory at the New Zealand Road Relay championships in Akaroa earlier this month. With the willing assistance of former team captain and road relay devotee Todd Stevens and Scottish’s current men’s club captain Rowan Hooper we find out their ten-point guide for road relay glory.

Vote for Tom: IAAF World Male Athlete of the Year Nominee

Tom Walsh is one of 10 athletes nominated for IAAF male athlete of the year 2018. 

Voting is now open and you can help determine the winner, with public votes counting for 25% of the final result.

NZ Distance Carnival Meet

After the success of the inaugural event in 2018, the second NZ Distance Carnival Meet has been confirmed for February 16, 2019, at Mount Smart Stadium.

Next year’s event will include both 1500m and 800m races and will be run in conjunction with the New Zealand 10,000m championship.
