Dear FIRSTNAME

Following the conclusion of the European track season we applaud the performance of Tom Walsh who added the IAAF Diamond League crown in Zurich to the World Indoor and Commonwealth crowns he won earlier in the year. Walsh was also in action, placing second, in the season-ending IAAF Continental Cup in Ostrava - a competition where Kiwi sprinter Joseph Millar went and above and beyond by throwing the discus and earning a point for the Asia-Pacific team!

Closer to home and a busy period of domestic road action witnessed senior victories for Oli Chignell and Penny Peskett at the New Zealand Road Race Championships in Cambridge. Meanwhile, Sam Wreford and Alice Mason took out the premier honours at the New Zealand Half Marathon Championships in Dunedin.

In this issue of Athletics in Action, we also chat to Eliza McCartney about this year's season, our 'Five Minutes' is with' Angie Petty as well as update on the revamped Run Jump Throw children's programme.

2018-19 Coach Accreditation

It’s still not too late to become an Accredited Coach for 2018-19. To continue to meet the needs of participants within our sport, Athletics New Zealand has introduced a new coaching framework, and established the “Athletics NZ Accredited Coach”.

This replaces our former Coach Membership and introducing this is another step towards realising our ambition to professionalise coaching.

It is our long term vision that ALL coaches who coach in our sport be accredited coaches with Athletics NZ.
