We had fun today with hundreds of kids doing Run Jump Throw at SKYCITY in Auckland. A fantastic end to the school holidays! Big thanks to Dame Valerie Adams, Julia Ratcliffe, Joseph Millar and Ben Langton Burnell for coming along to help out and talking to the kids.

The Gold Coast Commonwealth Games were a big success for the New Zealand Athletics team, resulting in two gold medals and four silver medals along with another four top-five placings and some very good performances. More about this further on in this issue.

We also bring you the sad news that our Patron Arthur Eustace passed away earlier this week.

In this issue of Athletics in Action we chat with Gold Coast 2018 race walk silver medallist Alana Barber,  we talk to new NZ marathon record holder Jake Robertson and we catch up with 400m runner Brooke Cull for our “Five minutes with …” segment.

There’s lots of action coming up in the winter season with Rotorua Marathon just over a week away and lots of cross country racing happening at the moment.
