Summer can't stop young skiers

X-COUNTRY: While the weather may be heating up, two of Australia’s leading young cross country skiers are not letting the change of seasons interrupt their aspirations for success at the 2016 Winter Youth Olympic Games (YOG).

While they have yet to have been officially selected for the Games which open on February 12, Lilly Boland and Liam Burton are all but assured of their spots to compete at Lillehammer in Norway.

Perisher XC - the transition from Winter to Summer

Probably very few of you are thinking about cross country skiing at the moment.  So to keep you focused here is some news and an invitation to attend the first work party of the summer (almost summer).

Meet at the Nordic Shelter on Saturday morning, 28 November, for a day of socialising and labour around the Nordic Shelter and on the tracks.  Sunday is an optional day, depending on what needs to be done.

Please click here to download the XC Newsletter for details of the work party, a winter wrap-up and news about tax-deductibility for donations to the Nordic Shelter.

Please let us know if you would like to join us on the 28th.

Weeds In Kosciuszko National Park

Are you interested in helping the native plants and animals of Kosciuszko National Park (KNP)? Then you may want to know about a new program to tackle weeds in the Park. Weeds have been in KNP since Europeans arrived, but lately weeds have been on the move, mostly due to increasing vehicle traffic in the Park and a changing climate. In response, the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) has teamed up with Greening Australia and to establish the Alpine Weeds Project. The aim of this project is to help prevent potentially invasive weeds establishing on the Main Range and in other alpine and sub-alpine areas of KNP. Community volunteers are assisting the NPWS and Greening Australia by identifying, recording and treating a list of problem weeds.
