Australian Junior National Championships Overview

For the 10th year in a row the Subaru Australian Junior Freeride Championships (formerly the Australian junior series) kicked off under sunny skies and amazing conditions at Perisher on Friday the 14th August with the snowboard Slopestyle event held in the Front Valley terrain park. This is the first snowboard event in the country to be dual sanctioned by FIS and the world snowboard tour which gives all our upcoming riders a great opportunity to gain valuable points here on home soil along with crowning Australian Junior Champions in the disciplines of Slopestyle, Boardercross and Halfpipe.  The event also gave athletes the possibility of gaining selection to the Australian team for the 2016 Youth Olympic Games in Norway.

Australia New Zealand Continental Cup Slaloms

Congratulations to NSW Alpine athletes on some great results from the two Australia New Zealand Continental Cup Slaloms held this weekend in Perisher.

In the Women's events, among those lowering their points next FIS list will be Zanna Farrell (top 10 result on day 1), Zali Offord (top 10 result on day 2) and Charlotte Murphy. Well done! Congratulations also to Jess Haslau (MBRC), recently crowned 2015 Australian National Champion, who was on the podium both days!

Both days of the Men's Slalom saw great fields with many international racers competing with minimum 6 point penalties which made for fabulous racing. On day 1 yesterday, Ross Peraudo finished with a top 10 result and Jack Adams, Theo Coates and Liam Michael all finished in the top 20. Congratulations! On day 2 today, Alex Scott (VIC) came 12th with a 27 point result which should help lower his FIS points next list. Liam Michael (NSW) also made a good FIS point result which should lower his points also. Well done!

Congratulations to Willis Feasey from New Zealand, who came 2nd today with 12.03 FIS points, the lowest ever FIS point result by a New Zealand male!! Bravo Willis!
