2015 NSW Snowsports Membership and Renewals - Now Open
Whether you're competing in various State/National Events, coaching or being coached, participating in an SSA Program or just a supporter of Skiing and Snowboarding in Australia, you can join Ski & Snowboard Australia and NSW Snowsports via the SSA Website http://www.skiandsnowboard.org.au/.
There are a number of options available, athletes and supporters should check there particular discipline requirements with respect to the most suitable race licence to purchase and for what events it is required.

To keep up-to-date with NSW Freestyle and NSWXC during the coming season, don't forget to download the smart phone app called TeamApp. If you ski moguls, slope style, or participate in cross country, then we strongly encourage you to download it and keep up to date with developments. If you download TeamApp from the App Store then search for 'NSW Freestyle’ and/or 'NSWXC you will find news, events calendars, volunteer requests and our online store.

2015 Amelia Junior Sprint Time Trial - Enter Now!
The Amelia XC Time Trails and Team Sprints are both a fundraiser for the Amelia McGuiness Foundation and a chance to gain valuable event experience under race conditions before the Interschools and other Junior XC competitions. An individual XC Time Trial will be conducted near the Nordic Shelter. The course will be determined on race day dependant upon snow conditions and therefore the distance could vary from 400 to 1,000 metres.

NSW Interschools and Perisher Snowsports Scholarship
NSW Snowboard was given the opportunity to select athletes to receive a new scholarship provided by NSW Interschools and Perisher. The scholarships are to provide support to NSW aspiring Snowsports athletes to assist them in achieving their goals through the provision of Winter Sports Club training.
We are happy to announce that the four recipients of the scholarships for 2014 were:
- Tina Taylor
- Alexandra Chen
- Ben Fawcett
- Bryn Nicholas
The eligibility and selection criteria for the scholarship was
- Athlete must be a NSW resident and attend a NSW school
- Athlete must be aged 12 to 18 years
- Athlete must have participated in a NSW Interschools event in 2014
- Athlete must show aspirations of developing further in their chosen snowboard discipline
The NSW Snowboard Committee would like to thank Perisher and Interschools for their generosity. Congratulations to the athletes and good luck in your 2015 competition events
Skiers Aim for Peak Condition
Some of the state's finest cross country skiers converged on the Snowy Mountains for an intense weekend of high altitude training facilitated by two leading coaches.
The NSW Cross Country Skiing held a team and squad camp at Charlotte Pass on the weekend with attendees travelling from Sydney, Canberra, Cooma and Jindabyne for the camp. This was the second camp in as many weeks held in the region and featured NSWXC head coach Petr Jakl who returned for his second year at the helm and NSW coach Alasdair Tutt.
NSW Freestyle Supporters Pack
The NSW Freestyle Supporters Pack is now available via the NSW Freestyle Team App, at the Team Store. The Pack includes lots of branded items such as a buff, hat, stickers, drink bottle, sunscreen and more from our sponsors.
We only have a limited number available so please grab them before they sell out.
Pick up will be from Jindabyne over the first few weeks of the season.

Alpine Skiing Level 1 Officials' Course - Jindabyne
This officially recognised training course is aimed at parents, teachers, coaches and volunteers who may be assisting at Interschools, Club, SSA or FIS Alpine races.
The 2.5 hr course covers the role of the official, race safety, race rules, race organisation, time keeping and use of radio communications. It is aimed at both new volunteers and those who accreditation has expired and need a refresher course (those accredited prior to 2009).

The NSW Alpine Thin Air Fun Run is on this Sunday afternoon at Lake Crackenback. Don't miss it!
NSW Alpine Australian Sports Foundation Fund Raising Project - Our athletes need your support
NSW Alpine is working hard to provide support to our young Alpine athletes and to supporting Alpine racing in NSW.
We help fund and organise:
- pre and post season fitness testing and training for all athletes
- free accredited training for Alpine course workers and race volunteers
- the NSWACT Alpine State Children's, Junior and Open teams to recognise high performing young athletes
- the Rising Stars program to help encourage high performing young Interschools racers to join Race Clubs and participate in SSA racing
- grants to athletes to assist with their travel and training costs
- events and Awards to encourage and recognise young athletes achievements
We have a fundraising project registered with the Australian Sports Foundation and are seeking donations.

The 18th Redlands Cup will be held on Tuesday 7th of July in Thredbo.

The Scots Race
2015 is the 20th Anniversary of the first Scots Race. This year it is on Monday 6 July, at Perisher. This Event is open to all individuals, boys and girls from any School, including Parents and siblings of Competitors for Ski and Snowboard events.
Full details are in the Flyer below. Entries close on Friday 3 July, and multiple entries can be made by School Coordinators for groups of children from their respective Schools or Colleges.

Australian junior athletes (U/21) are invited to apply for The Sport Australia Hall of Fame Scholarship & Mentoring Program annually.
The Sport Australia Hall of Fame’s Vision is to preserve and celebrate the history of Australian Sport and to excite the next generation of Australians to achieve their potential both in sport and life. The Scholarship & Mentoring Program is one opportunity to continue achieving our Vision.
To help young Australians achieve at the highest level of their sport, the Scholarship will provide encouragement and funding for 12 months.
More importantly, Scholarship holders will enjoy unrivalled access to and personal one-on-one mentoring from an Inducted Member; surely no greater way to inspire young sportspeople to fulfil their potential.
