2015 NSW Snowsports Membership and Renewals - Now OpenWhether you're competing in various State/National Events, coaching or being coached, participating in an SSA Program or just a supporter of Skiing and Snowboarding in Australia, you can join Ski & Snowboard Australia and NSW Snowsports via the SSA Website http://www.skiandsnowboard.org.au/. There are a number of options available, athletes and supporters should check there particular discipline requirements with respect to the most suitable race licence to purchase and for what events it is required. |

Jindabyne Freestyle Skiing Training SessionsBook now on the TeamApp to avoid disappointment. Following the success of our first NSW Freestyle training weekend in Sydney earlier this month, NSW Freestyle has organised a massive weekend of training and fun for the June long weekend in Jindabyne. The training sessions are being hosted by none other than local champion Nicole Parks however, be prepared to have a bunch of Olympians drop in for the fun and help out with coaching. We will have no less than 5 great coaches at each session. We are hosting three x 4 hour sessions across the weekend with limited places in each session as follows: Saturday – 1:30pm to 5:30pm Sunday – 9am to 1pm Sunday – 1:30pm to 5:30pm |

Alpine Skiing Level 1 Officials' Course - JindabyneThis officially recognised training course is aimed at parents, teachers, coaches and volunteers who may be assisting at Interschools, Club, SSA or FIS Alpine races. The 2.5 hr course covers the role of the official, race safety, race rules, race organisation, time keeping and use of radio communications. It is aimed at both new volunteers and those who accreditation has expired and need a refresher course (those accredited prior to 2009). |

NSW Alpine - Training Program Booklets for AthletesMay / June - Strength and Condition Booklets Below are the updated Strength and Condition Booklets for May / June, for use by all our Alpine and Skier Cross competitors and Race club members. Ages: Click here for the Booklet for U14/12 Strength and Conditioning Transition Program Click here for the Booklet for U21/16 Strenght and Conditioning Transition Program Please note: this is a generic program as it should be used as an guide. Each child/athlete has different school sport commitment. These are minimum sessions and might be complemented with school sport activities. Parents should also be advised to ensure their children have recovery days as well. Every child/athlete will improve their fitness levels if he/she follows this program. U21-U16 should look into purchasing TRX (as seen in the program) and Skiers Edge as a great fitness equipment to get ready for skiing. |

2015/2016 NSWIS Scholarship Holders NSW Snowsports wish to congratulate our member athletes who have recently been announced as 2015/16 NSWIS Scholarship holders. The NSWIS program is a decentralised program operating from NSWIS, Jindabyne Sport and Recreation Centre, Perisher and Thredbo Ski Resorts and other identified venues both domestically and internationally. The program generally caters for senior elite and elite development athletes who are likely to represent Australia at the World Cup, World Championships and Olympic level. These programs are operated by NSWIS in partnership with SSA and OWIA and include Freestyle Moguls, Park and Pipe (Ski and Snowboard), Snowboard Cross and Ski Cross. In addition, a small number of individual scholarships will be offered in the disciplines of Alpine, Biathlon and Cross Country Skiing. NSWIS programs support the daily training needs of selected athletes and provide world-class coaching, training and competition, facilities and support services to improve athletes development. SERAS - Academy Snowsports Athletes In Camp The South East Regional Academy of Sport (SERAS) Snowsports Program recently held its first training camp for the 2015 season at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS). Twenty scholarship holders attended the camp and they were given an introduction workshop on the principles of training by SERAS senior intern Scott Reaper. After this the athletes participated in activities including tumbling and trampolining under the supervision of former SERAS scholarship holder and Sochi Olympian, Nicole Parks, and NSW Cross Country head coach, Alasdair Tutt. Scholarship holders where then issued with their strength and conditioning programs after receiving exercise instructions from the academy’s intern students. The first day finished with the first of three workshops on resilience from sports psychologist, Richard Keegan. |

The Scots Race2015 is the 20th Anniversary of the first Scots Race. This year it is on Monday 6 July, at Perisher. This Event is open to all individuals, boys and girls from any School, including Parents and siblings of Competitors for Ski and Snowboard events. Full details are in the Flyer below.
