NSW Interschools / Perisher Scholarship Program

The objective of the Perisher Scholarship Program is to provide support to NSW aspiring Snowsports athletes to assist them in achieving their goals through the provision of Perisher season passes, lift tickets and Winter Sports Club training.

The benefits offered through these scholarships give athletes the opportunity to maintain a determined focus on their goals and to support them in furthering their Snowsports ambitions.

NSW athletes from 12 to 18 years of age are eligible to apply for assistance from the program, and support will be awarded to deserving applicants who best demonstrate aspirations to further their development.

ASC Local Sporting Champions Grant

Young people find it difficult to meet the ongoing and significant costs associated with participation at sporting competitions, particularly those from regional areas.

The Local Sporting Champions program is an Australian Government initiative designed to provide financial assistance for young people aged 12-18 towards the cost of travel, accommodation, uniforms or equipment when competing, coaching or officiating at an official national sporting organisation (NSO) endorsed state, national or international sporting championships or a School Sport Australia state or national championships.

Teams Grants are not longer available. Teams are encouraged to apply for the individual grant. Grant includes international competition as a member of an official Australian team, endorsed by an ASC recognised NSO or School Sport Australia.

Aim for the Stars - The Layne Beachley Foundation

If you or someone you know needs some financial support, mentoring and inspiration to achieve their goals then they should apply for am Aim for the Stars Scholarship by November 2014.

All applications must be completed on line. Scholarships are awarded at the discretion of the Foundation to eligible applicants who best demonstrate their aspirations and need. Whistler Moguls Camp

Momentum Camps  in Whistler are running several 3 day mogul and freestyle camps throughout January 2015.  The camps are run by high level coaches who are mostly current or ex-World Cup skiers.  The camps will include jumping, moguls, park, trees, trampolining and a range of activities to improve base skills and techniques.

Whistler Cup - Expressions of Interest

NSWACT Alpine seeks expressions of interest from athletes born 2001 and 2002 who wish to be part of the NSWACT U14 Team to participate in the 2015 Whistler Cup.

Whistler Cup is an International Race Festival held April 3, 4 & 5 at Whistler, Canada. In 2014 teams from Italy, Canada, Japan, Australia, Chile, Argentina, New Zealand, Norway, and Denmark competed along with teams from clubs and provinces in Canada. The event is in its 23nd year and is considered one of the premier international children’s ski races. The U16 event is an international FIS children’s event however the U14 event is a Canadian Festival event open to Canadian club and provincial teams and also teams from overseas. SSA will be sending an U16 and U14 team to Whistler Cup.

NSW Alpine Awards Evening

About 100 people attended the recent NSW Alpine end of year celebration and awards evening at Middle Harbour Yacht Club. A very enjoyable evening was had by all with awards being presented to Age Champions, Development Award winners, Rising Star Award winners, Best School and Best Ski Club. It was great to have Zali Steggall present the awards to all the winners and she also spoke to the children about ski racing at the end of the presentations. 

Travel grant cheques were also presented to the 2014 State Children's, Junior and Open members who competed at the National Championships and interstate national races. We thank our sponsors and supporters TSRC, PWSC, Candlelight lodge Thredbo,  NSW Snowsports, Ski Japan and Peak Performance for their assistance and support during the year with our programs and athlete support initiatives.

Annette Pilat thanked retiring treasurer Angus Thompson (Angus is continuing as a committee member)  and passed a special vote of thanks to  retiring committee members Felicity Coates and Greg Lewis for the substantial contribution both have made to sport in NSW over many years.  Incoming Chair, David Chrystal also thanked and made a presentation to outgoing Chair Annette Pilat, thanking her for her dedication and hard work over her 6 years as Alpine Committee Chair and for the improvements for athletes and the sport that have been introduced and developed over that time.

The AGM was then followed by an open forum meeting for parents with the NAC representatives Lachlan Clarke and Brad Wall

National Parks Entrance Fee Free Weekend 15-16 November 2014

National Parks and Wildlife Service will be hosting an entrance fee free weekend across all of our National Parks and reserves on the weekend of 15-16 November 2014

The celebration is to mark the 40th anniversary of the National Parks and Wildlife Act, which passed in 1974.
