Nordic X Comes to Perisher....Perisher Valley hosted an exciting trial event on the last Saturday in July. Known as the Nordic Cross, it is similar to Skier X but the skiers are on XC, or "skinny skis", and have to climb some hills as well as navigate bumps and turns. This event is set to be a trial event in the next Youth Winter Olympics at Lillehammer, Norway, and from there perhaps even a future Winter Olympics, which was the way of both Skier and Boarder X. It's one of eight new events making their debut on the YOG programme in Lillehammer. It's a cool and high adrenaline event, perfect for the youth. |

Night Relays - A Huge SuccessLast Monday evening, the traditional fund raising event for the Perisher XC Nordic Centre as held with over 100 people making the evening a real success. The twenty two teams of four were of all ages and some people even arrived in dress ups, adding a real sense of fun and enjoyment. Whilst the onesies may have been joking around, the speed of some of the teams certainly was not to be laughed at. The cold night air made for a super fast track, and the Winning honours went to "Chicks with Guns" - the teenage biathletes from NSW Biathlon. The mixed boys & girls juniors came second over all too. A fully catered evening candle light dinner was held in the Nordic Shelter afterwards. |

NSW Biathletes Continue Success at Australian Biathlon ChampionshipsThe Australian Biathlon Championships were held last weekend on the 26th and 27th July and continues success for the NSWXC Biathletes. The weather to travel to Mt Hotham on the day before racing was difficult with many roads blocked through fallen trees and storms causing all sorts of havoc. For biathletes that made it through the blizzard to Mt Hotham, it was cold, windy and snowing a lot with very poor visibility. |
