NSW Snowsports Annual General Meeting - Wednesday 26th March 2014

Notice is hereby given that the Annual General Meeting of NSW Snowsports will be held on Wednesday 26th March 2014 beginning at 6.45pm.

The Meeting is to be held at:

Sydney - Arafura Room Sports House, 6B Figtree Rd, Sydney Olympic Park Homebush Bay

Teleconference in Jindabyne - 1 Mitchell Circuit, Jindaybne

NSW Snowsports Annual General Meeting - Annual Report

The 2013 NSW Snowsports Annual Report will be available from Friday 7th of March.

Advance Notice - Pre Season Alpine Strength and Conditioning Camp

11th-13th April, Sydney Academy of Sport, Narrabeen 

A residential two and a half day strength and conditioning camp is being organised for the 11th - 13th April at the Sydney Academy of Sport facility at Narrabeen led by Manfred Wolscher.

The camp is open to all registered Alpine (including Skier X) athletes and members of TSRC and PWSC. 

There will be separate programs for Children U12/U14 and U16/FIS Juniors

We will also be running again this year, weekly fitness training sessions during term 2 in both Sydney and Jindabyne.

Further information and registration details will follow in early March.

Sochi 2014 Paralympic Winter Games - Start this Friday!

Don't miss the action from the Sochi 2014 Paralympic Winter Games starting 7 March. Watch the ABC's live stream of events straight from the snow in Sochi at http://www.abc.net.au/news/sport/ 

Watch out for our NSW Snowsports athlete, Ben Tudhope. He has recently been named in the Australian Paralympic Winter Squad. Ben will be competing in Snowboard.

NSW Snowsports would like to congratulate Ben on his selection, and look forward to watching him compete during 2014 Paralympic Winter Games. 

Ben currently competes in the NSW Interschools Snowsports Championships. Watch out for his olympic profile, which will soon appear on the Olympic Profiles Page on the NSW Interschools website: nswinterschools.com.au Ben is also a 2013 receipent of the Amelia McGuiness Scholarship.

Cross Country Work Parties - Update

The last Perisher XC work party achieved heaps (see the report on www.perisherxcountry.org).  Thanks to all who organised and helped, to NPWS and to Canberra Alpine Club.

Weather permitting, the major work for the March work party will be on the trails completing projects started in February and minor projects around the Nordic Shelter.

And pencil in the next work party dates:

3-4 May

NSWOC Athlete Grant Program

The New South Wales Olympic Council (NSWOC) is pleased to announce the introduction of a new Athlete Grant Program. The NSWOC Council will distribute five $1,000 cash grants to ‘up and coming’ junior NSW athletes in 2014.

The focus of this program is to provide increased opportunities and assist with the funding for the development of young, ‘up and coming’ NSW athletes. The program has been created to reach athletes outside of the NSWIS scholarship program and those that are not already receiving significant support from their State, National Sporting Bodies or third parties.

The Scots College Snowsports in conjunction with Ascham, Kambala and Cranbrook are holding their annual Secondhand Snowsports Sale on Sunday 6th of April 2014. Bring all your snowsports clothing and equipment and swap it or sell it!
