Perisher Cross Country 2013 Winter Wrap - November 2013

The 2013 XC winter on the Perisher cross country trails was a rewarding one, characterized by the great resourcefulness of cross country skiers.

2013 was not blessed by good snowfalls.  It fell late and little on the XC trails.  In spite of that, only one event (the first one) on the local calendar was cancelled and many were held in excellent conditions.  Weather and conditions for practice and competition days of NSW/ACT Interschools were excellent. Even the KAC had not only a great track, but good weather as well – great organizing on someone’s part!

NPWS - the old and the new: Thanks Dave, Ant, Tim and Graham!

The Perisher XC community is very grateful to the staff of NPWS/Kosciuszko National Park for their support of cross country skiing.  We already love the sport – what a great way to experience a special and unique environment in the healthiest possible way.  Having such good facilities means that lots more people will be able to make the same discovery.

These are a few of the people XC owes many thanks to:

NSW Biathlon and NSWXC continued their close co-operation holding a specialised roller ski and shooting technique Training Camp on the weekend of 16th and 17th November. The Camp was led by 2006 Olympic Biathlete Cameron Morton and with many of the NSW high performance athletes already overseas, it was a great opportunity for the NSW developing athletes to have an intensive skills and technique training weekend.
