SERAS Scholarship - Closes Tomorrow!

Applications are now open for the South East Regional Academy of Sport (SERAS) Snowsports Scholarship Program, which is run in partnership with NSW Snowsports and Snowsports ACT, and offers annual scholarships to athletes aged between 13 and 18 years of age (in the scholarship year e.g. 2014) depending on their discipline. Competitive athletes from alpine, cross country, freestyle moguls, snowboarding and ski cross are eligible to nominate for a scholarship.

The scholarship provides talented young athletes with education on sports psychology, exercise physiology, media skills, public speaking, sports nutrition, time management, and sports medicine. Athletes will also attend snowsports specific weekend training camps to undertake fitness testing and strength and conditioning programs.

Applications for the 2014 SERAS Snowsports Program close on 11 October 2013.

Amelia McGuiness Scholarship - Closes next Wednesday! 

About AMASDF 
The AMASDF is dedicated to providing practical support (for equipment, training, and resources), to up-and-coming winter snowsports athletes from the age of 10 to 19 years old, across all disciplines including disabled snowsports

Scholarship Information 
Scholarship Amount: The amount per athlete will be determined by the AMASDF Committee and is subject to the amount of money raised during fundraising events.

Online Grant Opens: 9am, Monday 26th of August 2013
Online Grant Closes: 5pm, Wednesday 16th of October 2013 (no applications will be accepted after this time)
Character Reference Due: 
3pm, Friday 18th of October 2013 (applications will not be considered if a character reference isn't received)

Successful Athletes will be notified by 13th of December 2013. Cheques/Direct Deposits will be sent by 1st of January 2014.

The Layne Beachley 'Aim for the Stars' Foundation - Applications Now Open!

Layne Beachley and her Aim for the Stars Foundation, is inviting all Australian females aged 12 – 26 years who need funding to achieve goals in their sporting, academic, community, business, environmental or cultural pursuits to complete their applications online.
Any hard-working female who is committed to pursuing her passion and needs financial support deserves a helping hand and should apply for an Aim for the Stars 2014 grant by 15th November 2013.

NSW Alpine Pre Northern Season Fitness Testing and Programming Day

A fitness testing and programming day and weekly training sessions are being organised by NSW Alpine for all Alpine (includes Ski X) members and members of TSRC and PSWC. The sessions are being offered to all participants at subsidized rates. These sessions provide important preparatio for those training and racing in the northern season and also for those who want to keep up their fitness over summer.

Ski and Snowboard Australia Interschools School Awards

SSA holds an Annual Awards Ceremony in Melbourne recognising outstanding performances within the Snow Sports industry. To acknowledge all levels of competitive racing, and to highlight an outstanding or unique school, SSA presents two awards to schools within the Interschools Snowsports program. 

The two categories are:

  • Snowsports School of the Year
  • Outstanding Achievement of the Year for Small Schools

These awards are open to all schools participating in Interschools from NSW, ACT, QLD, SA and VIC. State nominations will be judged by State Interschools Committees and the state winners will be put forward to SSA for final judging for the national winners.
