The Australian Rookie Fest Down UnderThe Australian Rookie Fest Down Under had the sunniest weather of its 4 year history. The best Australian Rookies and Groms were joined by athletes from 4 other nations (Norway, USA, England, Austria) to battle it out for the Black Yeti honours. Congratulations to our internationals who took out 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the male rookie division: Isak Ulstein (Norway), Rowan Coultas (England) and Roland Tschoder (Austria). The very closely contested girl’s event was taken out by Mahalah Mullins (Aus), Kirra Kotsenburg (USA) in 2nd and Cassie Fortune (Aus) 3rd. |

NSWACT Alpine Rising Stars 2013 Award WinnersNSWACT Alpine, Perisher Winter Sports Club and Thredbo Ski Racing Club have combined again this season to offer this exciting Award to talented Interschool racers without previous race club experience. 9 Alpine racers from Divisions 4 or 5 across the Sydney, Northern and Southern/ACT regions have been selected for this year’s Alpine Rising Stars Awards which offer the successful racers:

NSWACT Alpine Funds to Raise CampaignMORE GREAT PRIZES to be won: Cat Skiing at Red Mountain, photo session with Hot Shots, Giro helmet, lunch at Kareela Hutte and more.... Way back in 1969 Malcolm Milne became the first Australian and non-European to win a men’s World Cup downhill (speed) event. Later Milne commented “…someone once said to me that for us to beat the Europeans at winter sports was like Austria tackling us at Test cricket. I reckon it's an accurate judgment.” |

Westpac NSW and ACT Inerschools XC Championships - 2013The NSW/ACT State Interschools event was held recently in amazingly good weather and snow conditions at the Perisher Cross Country Centre. Nearly 400 children from more than 30 schools took part in two competitions on the day – The Freestyle Team event and the Relay. |

Apply now for a Local Sporting Championships GrantAre you, or do you know, a dedicated young athlete, coach or official participating in a state, national or international sporting championships? Are you aged 12-18 years old travelling further than 125km to your event for a state, national or international championships? If yes, then you or your team could be eligible for an Australian Government Local Sporting Champions grant to help meet costs such as uniforms, travel, accommodation and equipment. Grants of $500 per individual and $3,000 per team are available for young people participating in the following:
