Perisher Range Cross Country Gets Serious

The Cross Country Ski community took a good, solid look at priorities and future directions at a day-long planning workshop in Jindabyne organized by KCros President Wayne Pethybridge and attended by stakeholders and interested parties.

It has been widely recognized by many in the XC community that some aspects of the sport that so many enjoy are in need of re-thinking and serious attention.  Today’s workshop was the first step towards addressing those issues.

A lengthy list of areas requiring attention was complied and refined to four key areas:

  1. Management structure and funding – “Perisher Range Cross Country (PRCC)”, a group consisting of representatives of stakeholders and others with particular interests and skills, with immediate focus on marketing and medium/long term focus on infrastructure.
  2. Cross Country Precinct Master Plan – including signage, facilities, trails, commercial opportunities
  3. Marketing and Promotion – including website and other electronic communication; promotional activities and materials; target groups
  4. Participation/Events – Focus on 2013 Perisher Cross Country Ski Week with the aim to develop a co-ordinated marketing program that will promote the many and varied activities already established (and possibly some interesting new ones) as a single “flagship” event.
